Bonampak
Best known as the Mayan City of the mural paintings and declared a National Monument in 1992, it is an archaeological site located in the Lacandon Jungle in the state of Chiapas.
The only section open to the public is “La Gran Plaza” (The Great Plaza), where you can visit structures such as the acropolis, the stelae, and the Temple of the Paintings. Here you will see impressive scenes of enemies being captured by the rulers of Bonampak and Yaxchilán.
